About the Course

Awareness is about knowledge, perception, and being well-informed. The process of technical rope rescue and rigging starts long before the bags and packs are pulled into action. Because rope rescue is a high-risk event, the first goal is safety and managing the risk to an acceptable level; first for the professional, then the patient, in that order.

Rescue & Rigging Field Guide Series: Awareness

The first course available in a three-part series, Rescue & Rigging Field Guide Series: Awareness concentrates on what is known as NFPA 1983. This standard is divided into two sections: Team and Organization (1670) and Individual Professional Qualification (1006). While these standards were originally written for the fire service, they have come to be the acceptable guidelines (if not) standards for most urban and rural rescue teams, fire service based or not.
